Reputed journalist speaks on Levy's role in bringing Muani

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bring in Paris Saint-Germain’s forward Randal Kolo Muani to North London in the ongoing winter transfer window, and Daniel Levy is said to be in control of negotiations over bringing the Frenchman to White Hart Lane.

Looking to bring the former Frankfurt ace to N17, club chairman Daniel Levy, alongside director of football Johan Lange, reportedly flew to Paris to try and negotiate a deal to bring the 26-year-old to White Hart Lane. The aforementioned report also goes on to mention how the player is expected to cost the Lilywhites around £55 million, with any potential transfer set to include a financial arrangement that would appeal to Daniel Levy and his cost-conscious approach to transfers.

Now there are claims that Levy was in direct talk with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, looking to secure a deal to bring the French international to London, with journalist Ben Jacobs suggesting that Levy is leveraging his close relationship and years of close cooperation with the Al-Khelaifi-led ECA in negotiations to bring the French striker to England. He continued that any possible deal would indeed bypass the old sporting director structure and be directly worked between Levy and Al-Khelaifi.

PSG are said to be open to a possible loan deal with an obligation-to-buy clause for Kolo Muani, but Tottenham and Levy might try to negotiate better terms.

Jacobs, speaking on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, said:

“If this [deal] gets done, it will not be done through Lange and Campos. It will be done through Al-Khelaifi and Daniel Levy – they have the relationship. So if there’s any business to be done, this will be a Daniel Levy deal direct with the PSG president and that relationship between them, they are on very favourable terms. They worked together at the ECA, they’ve known each other for many years and held the investment talks in January 2023. They have a strong and professional relationship. If there was one club outside of the Premier League you would want Daniel Levy fighting in your corner, it would be PSG negotiations because he is probably capable of getting the kind of deal that Spurs would be looking for to pull it off. “So I do think that Tottenham are going to very strongly push to try and get Munai over the line.”

Kolo Muani would be an interesting option at White Hart Lane and will hand Ange Postecoglou a big boost in his attacking roster.

Securing Kolo Muani would show that despite the outside pressure, the chiefs at N17 still back Ange Postecoglou and are willing to play the long game under the Australian’s tutelage.
