Former Premier League captain advises Alexander Isak to SABOTAGE Newcastle's training sessions in bid to force a move to Liverpool

Former Watford captain Troy Deeney has called for Newcastle United outcast Alexander Isak to 'ruin' Eddie Howe's training sessions in order to force a move to Liverpool.

The Magpies striker, 25, has been at the centre of a transfer saga this summer which has captured the attention of world football.

After reportedly telling the club of his wish to leave at the start of the transfer window, Newcastle rejected a £110million bid from Liverpool for Isak last month while they continued to find a replacement for the talesman.

But Isak has since gone on strike to try and force a move to the Premier League champions, refusing to train or play for the club. He was reportedly fined two weeks wages for his absence at Villa Park last weekend.

In what was seemingly a final attempt to seal a Liverpool switch from Tyneside, Isak released a bombshell statement earlier this week accusing the Magpies hierarchy of 'broken promises'.

Troy Deeney however, who played more than 400 times for Watford, has offered the striker another solution to his Liverpool dilemma.

Deeney has advised Isak to 'ruin' Newcastle's training sessions - just as the Englishman did when he was trying to force a move from Walsall to Watford back in 2010.

Speaking about his transfer to the Hornets, the no nonsense centre-forward wrote in The Sun: 'In private, my agent said to me, "you're going to have to kick up a fuss here. You're going back to training and you'll do all of the running but as soon as a ball is involved, you're going to have to ruin sessions, you're going to have to kick balls away. But importantly, you can't let anyone on the outside know what's going on".

'It was really hard, you would go home feeling guilty, being a d*** for no reason, burning bridges for people you quite like.

'But you've just go to remember who you're doing it for: yourself. That's how Isak will be feeling. This is a career-changing, career-defining move.

'You're going from Newcastle to one of the biggest clubs in world football in Liverpool, where you are probably going to win major titles.'

Newcastle are now believed to have no intention of selling Isak in light of the release of his statement earlier this week, as revealed by Daily Mail Sport.

The club have pursued alternatives all summer and, had they signed one of their top targets, they would have explored Isak's sale to Liverpool, recognising his desire to move on.

However, the message from the top on Tuesday night was that Isak will be told he is staying at the club. The hierarchy believe they have now been left with no choice but to stand firm after the striker released his inflammatory statement, and privately their stance has hardened.

A statement released by the club in response to Isak's read: 'We are disappointed to have been alerted to a social media post by Alexander Isak this evening,' the club said. 'We are clear in response that Alex remains under contract and that no commitment has ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer.

'We want to keep our best players, but we also understand players have their own wishes and we listen to their views. As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always take into consideration the best interests of Newcastle United, the team and our supporters in all decisions and we have been clear that the conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired. We do not foresee those conditions being met.

'This is a proud football club with proud traditions and we strive to retain our family feel. Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates.'

Newcastle coincidentally host Liverpool this Monday at St James' Park, though it is highly unlikely Isak will feature.
