Harry Maguire says 'really young' Man Utd star has 'impressed' him this season, 'He's going to be…'

Harry Maguire is a real leader at Manchester United, both on and off the pitch, acting as a role model for young players and also being well placed to judge their impact.

It is quite remarkable to think about the turnaround Harry Maguire has had at Manchester United over the past few years.

From the most hated player on the roster, to now arguably one of the most widely loved. Maguire was once football’s most abused player, with fans almost using him as a scapegoat.

Erik ten Hag leaned into this, trying to sell the former club captain; however, Ruben Amorim has made Maguire an important figure, making him part of the leadership group.

During the summer just passed, United rejected approaches for Maguire, having triggered his contract extension earlier this year, which expires next summer.

Maguire surviving such tough treatment makes him perfect to advise young players on how to handle the pressure at United.

Harry Maguire is very excited by Benjamin Sesko’s talent

Maguire proved all his doubters wrong at United, and this mental fortitude is something that he needs to be teaching to his younger teammates.

Speaking this weekend in an interview on Sky Sports, Maguire has been asked about some of his younger teammates, specifically the summer arrival Benjamin Sesko.

“I think he’s going to be an excellent player for the club. He’s really young, and I’m sure he’s already finding a lot of pressure on his shoulders already because that’s what happens when you play for this club.

“But I think everyone needs to realise he’s a young player, he might take time to find his feet, but he’s got all of the attributes, the physicality and the mentality to be a success at this club.

“I’ve been really impressed with him in training; his finishing is excellent, and I believe he’s going to score goals for this club for many years.”

Maguire also raved about Sesko upon his arrival, but has certainly been a bit more reserved here, tempering expectations.

Maguire also impressed by Senne Lammens at Manchester United

Another player Maguire has been asked about is Senne Lammens, with the Belgian shot stopper another young player signed this summer at the age of 23.

Tom Heaton has revealed his excitement over Lammens, and now Maguire has added to this.

“Yeah, he’s another player, I must say I’ve been so impressed with him in training, I think he has all the fundamentals to be a really top-class goalkeeper. He’s great with his feet, he’s a big presence, and he’s a really good shot stopper.

“He’s got the fundamentals to be excellent, so listen again, he’s another young boy, he’s coming to a club with big pressure. I know he’ll deal with it and have a long future at this club.”

Lammens appears to have it all, in terms of what a goalkeeper needs, and will change United supporters’ lives after such an awful spell of goalkeepers.
