India will take on England in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur at 1:30 PM IST on February 6. India are flying high after registering a comprehensive win in the T20I series where they defeated the visitors 4-1. The ODI squad is completely different to what India played in T20Is. Only six players who were part of the T20Is are in the ODI squad, with nine players, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant, among others returning to the squad. Varun Chakravarthy was also added to the India squad after his impressive performances in the T20I series and should be starting in the XI for the first ODI. The series stands of utmost importance as the three ODIs will be the final opportunity for the teams to fix the jigsaw before the ICC Champions Trophy.

England would look to do well in the ODI series after being rattled by Indian spinners in the T20I series. The team has known issues against the spinners in these conditions, and things won't get easier for them in the ODI series, however, the return of Joe Root will provide some stability in the batting. Also, the batters can take a bit more time to settle in ODIs than in T20Is. Can England turn things around in the 50-over format, it won't be easy, but not impossible.
