Alexis Mac Allister's father makes Real Madrid transfer stance clear

Alexis Mac Allister is due a three-week break after helping Argentina reach the FIFA World Cup final, where they were beaten by Spain.

The Liverpool midfielder was a regular for Lionel Scaloni’s side throughout the tournament and is now expected to spend time recovering with family before returning to Merseyside for pre-season.

Instead, the 27-year-old has found himself at the centre of fresh transfer speculation.

According to Defensa Central, Mac Allister believes his spell at Liverpool has come to an end and his representatives have offered him to Real Madrid. The report adds that Liverpool would demand €100 million (£84.9 million) to sanction a transfer.

Now the reports have been firmly dismissed by those closest to the player. Mac Allister’s father, Carlos, categorically denied that either the midfielder or his representatives have held any contact with Real Madrid over a potential transfer.

Carlos Mac Allister dismissed the reports when asked about the speculation, insisting there have been no discussions with the Spanish club.

“We have not spoken to any Real Madrid official, what is being circulated about us holding talks with Real Madrid is not true,” Mac Allister Snr told 365Scores. “Alexis is still on a two-season contract with Liverpool.

“Currently, he’ll get some rest for a few days and then go back to playing in the Premier League, that’s the current situation.”

The denial directly contradicts reports. While Spanish outlets have claimed Mac Allister’s representatives had offered the midfielder to Real Madrid, his father has publicly rejected suggestions that any talks have taken place.

Alexis Mac Allister joined Liverpool from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2023 and has established himself as a key player in midfield. He remains under contract at Anfield until June 2028 and will hope to help the Reds reclaim the Premier League title from Arsenal.

He scored five goals and provided seven assists last season, helping Liverpool secure another season of UEFA Champions League football.
