Governing body Cricket Australia has launched Cricket TV, a global direct-to-consumer service featuring live matches, original documentaries and archival content.

The service has been rolled out in partnership with Eluvio, a platform that manages, distributes and monetises premium content via blockchain.

The OTT service is now available for early access with a full commercial roll-out scheduled for later this year. Intended to make Australian cricket more accessible to sports fans around the world, its content includes highlights of the national team’s recent Test series against Bangladesh, as well as documentary series 2 Nations, 1 Obsession.

Dan Allan, senior content manager, broadcast at Cricket Australia, said: “Eluvio has been a fantastic partner throughout the process, helping us deliver a high-quality viewing experience while giving us the flexibility to keep evolving the platform. During the early access period, Cricket TV has already reached viewers in more than 40 countries, highlighting the strong global interest in Australian cricket.”

Michelle Munson, CEO and co-founder of Eluvio, said: “We’re honoured to have extended our relationship with Cricket Australia, not only to serve their fans with live matches, but also to serve as a model for other sports organisations looking for the most efficient and cost-effective way to deliver protected sports content with the quality today’s global viewers deserve.”
