Pakistan’s star fast bowler Haris Rauf responds to criticism

During the post-match press conference, when asked why he faltered in big matches like the Asia Cup final against Team India, he said, "Humaray liye koi maafi nahi hoti (there is no forgiveness for us) we are expected to perform like robots but we are human beings and we can have bad days".

In the final of the continental event against the "Men in Blue", the pacer went wicketless by conceding 50 runs in 3.4 overs.

Further speaking, he said a professional cricketer can go through a bad day, and he also highlighted that the main thing about a player is their never-give-up attitude.

"The main thing is you don't give up. You don't die from a bad day. We just keep belief in our skills and keep on working on rectifying mistakes but as a professional cricketer any bowler can have a bad day," he said.

"No player likes to be criticised, yes everyone has his opinion but like I said for us, there is no forgiveness. You might have 10 good matches and one bad game and everyone will remember the bad game," added the 32-year-old pacer.

Rauf also said that he is keen to represent Pakistan in the longest format of the game. So far, he has featured in just one Test match and also urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to inform players in advance about their selection for any assignments, especially for red-ball cricket.

"...I want to play Tests also for Pakistan. I am ready whenever the selectors or the Board want me for Tests but my only point is to inform us in advance so that we can go and prepare for red-ball cricket where you have to bowl a lot of overs in a day," said the Rawalpindi-born cricketer.

The second ODI match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is scheduled to be played on November 13 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in the Punjab province of Pakistan.
