Ruben Amorim has reportedly declined an invitation from Sir Jim Ratcliffe to accompany the Manchester United leadership team on a trip to Iceland, choosing instead to concentrate fully on pre-season preparations. As he gears up for his first full season in charge, the Portuguese head coach recognises the need to make every moment count.

As United look to break free from mediocrity next season, Ratcliffe continues to conduct business in his preferred manner. The Athletic reports that the co-owner of the Reds invited chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox on a fishing trip to Iceland this week.

Ratcliffe, an experienced traveller, often meets with senior Ineos executives globally, reportedly seeing these gatherings as a chance to discuss business in a relaxed setting.

Ratcliffe, Berrada, and Wilcox are reportedly spending the 48 hours before Saturday's first pre-season match against Leeds United in Stockholm.

While fishing, one of Ratcliffe's favourite pastimes, was undoubtedly part of the plan, discussions about sporting and commercial issues at Old Trafford were also likely on the agenda, reports the Express.

Given Ratcliffe's preference for making significant decisions face-to-face, it's probable that United's third offer for Bryan Mbeumo was conceived on the Nordic island.

The report further states that Amorim was not present at the meeting, despite Ratcliffe's suggestion that he join the trio for in-depth discussions away from the hustle and bustle of M16.

It is reported that, following these talks, the Ineos mogul respected Amorim's wish to remain with his team in preparation for their match against Leeds in Stockholm on Saturday.

Amorim will conduct a training session at Carrington on Friday morning before flying to Stockholm later in the day with his staff and players.

Berrada and Wilcox are scheduled to travel to the Swedish capital on Saturday morning once their Icelandic meeting with Ratcliffe concludes.

Following the Leeds match, West Ham United, Bournemouth and Everton await in the United States as part of the Premier League Summer Series.

United will visit New Jersey, Chicago and Atlanta between July 27 and August 8 before returning to Manchester to conclude their pre-season schedule against Fiorentina. The club hopes that Mbeumo will finalise his move from Brentford before they depart for the US on Tuesday.

Brentford have yet to respond to United's offer, which is worth £65million plus an additional £5m in add-ons, but there is confidence that they will accept it.
