Matheus Cunha stance on Manchester United move explained as contact made with Wolves star's agent

Manchester United will be looking to bolster Ruben Amorim’s attacking options this summer, with number 10’s likely to be a priority.

Ruben Amorim is deploying his 3-4-2-1 system at Manchester United, and the results so far have been a mixed bag.

Goals have not been easy to come by for United, and Amorim’s side have failed to find the net since the international break.

Gary Neville was unhappy with United’s approach against Manchester City, seemingly wanting more blood, thunder and urgency in the United display.

Amorim may feel that he doesn’t have the quality in the final third to really go at teams such as City, which leaves United with work to do over the summer.

United are looking at Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, but the search for goals won’t just be limited to centre forwards.

Manchester United linked with Matheus Cunha move

United will also seek signings to play in the number 10 roles under Amorim, which is a difficult position for which to recruit.

Alejandro Garnacho isn’t a natural in that narrower role, and Joshua Zirkzee hasn’t provided a huge goal threat there.

United need players who can create in the number 10 role, show ability in 1v1 situations when moving wide and pose a goal threat around the box.

Those players don’t come cheap, but talkSPORT claim that United are an option for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha.

It’s claimed that Cunha’s agent will be holding face-to-face talks with interested clubs in the near future, with contact already established for a potential move to United.

Cunha can leave Wolves for £62.5million thanks to a release clause in his contract, with reporter Ben Jacobs adding that a move to United appeals to the Brazilian.

United potentially missing out on European football seemingly doesn’t concern Cunha, who would still fancy a move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United could finally sign Matheus Cunha

Cunha’s skillset is ideal for one of those number 10 roles in Amorim’s system and his season with Wolves has been brilliant.

13 goals and four assists in 26 Premier League appearances leave Cunha as one of the top-performing attackers this season.

Cunha ticks the boxes for United and has actually been on the Old Trafford radar for a while now.

Reports in August 2022 suggested that United wanted to sign Cunha from Atletico Madrid, but he ended up at Wolves just months later.

United even wanted Cunha last summer, but the speculation came to nothing once again.

Cunha recently hinted at wanting to leave Wolves, and this summer may finally be the right time to make the move to Old Trafford at long, long last.
