Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is expected to leave the club in the coming days, with reports suggesting he could be named Brazil boss before the end of the season.

Ancelotti's position is under scrutiny following Real Madrid's heavy 5-1 aggregate loss by Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Their Champions League defence unravelled against the Gunners, with Real Madrid suffering a 2-1 defeat on Wednesday night at home having suffered a 3-0 loss away last week.

According to Sky Sports, Ancelotti is now expected to leave Real Madrid after the Copa del Rey final on April 26.

Real Madrid face arch rivals Barcelona in the showpiece in Seville, with the report claiming this will be his final match in charge.

Ancelotti would have the chance to add to the 11 trophies won in his second spell as Real Madrid head coach.

The veteran coach has led the club to two LaLiga titles and lifted the Champions League twice after rejoining the club in 2021.

Real Madrid would still have five matches remaining in LaLiga this season after the final.

This includes the second Clasico against Barcelona in the league of the season, with both sides battling to claim the domestic title.

Barcelona are currently top of the table and hold a four point advantage over their arch rivals.

Ancelotti, whose contract ends in 2026, was questioned about his future following Real Madrid's Champions League exit and admitted Real Madrid's hierarchy could make a change.

'I don´t know, maybe the club will decide to make a change,' Ancelotti said.

'It could be this year or next year, when my contract runs out,

'The day I finish here I can only do one thing and that is to thank this club. It could be tomorrow, in 10 days or in a year and the only thing I will do is thank the club.

'I don´t care if my contract ends this year or next year.'

Brazil are looking for a new manager again after Dorival Junior was sacked last month

Ancelotti has been a long-term target of the Brazilian Football Confederation, who had courted him back in 2023, but the Italian opted to extend his Real Madrid contract.

Reports in Spain stated that the CBF had sent an emissary to Madrid to speak to Ancelotti, a claim denied by the organisation.

The Athletic, however, reported that a representative of the CBF had been present at the Bernabeu on Wednesday and will hold talks with Ancelotti in the coming days.

Brazil had two caretaker managers following the Qatar 2022 World Cup, as their public courtship of Ancelotti continued during 2023.

The CBF eventually appointed Dorival Junior as manager in January 2024, but his 16 match reign came to an end last month.

Dorival Junior was sacked after the five-time world champions suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat to arch rivals Argentina in World Cup qualifying.

The result left Brazil fourth in South America’s World Cup qualifying standings, 10 points behind reigning world champions Argentina.

Despite the setback, Brazil are on course to claim one of the six automatic qualifying spots for next summer’s World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
