Pre-season: Nik Cox update

Nik Cox has been given the all-clear to resume full training with Essendon’s main squad upon their official return in November.

The 23-year-old is no longer required to appear before the AFL Concussion Panel, having successfully met all benchmarks for reintegration into full training.

Cox also ticked off all requirements from the Club and has fully participated in its off-season program.

The Bombers will still take a conservative approach with the sixth-year utility throughout the pre-season, aiming to give him the best chance to return to football at the highest level.

“Nik has done a mountain of work in recent months,” General Manager – AFL Daniel McPherson said.

“We’re obviously excited about the prospect of his return, but we’ll remain cautious given his history to ensure we give him the best possible chance to get a clean run at it.

“We’re all hoping we can see the best of Nik in 2026.”
