Arsenal will kick off their UEFA Champions League 2024-25 campaign on September 20, when they travel to Italy to take on Atalanta at the Stadio di Bergamo.

The Gunners are one of the most successful English football clubs in history with three Premier League titles, a record 14 FA Cups, two League Cups and 17 Community Shield wins. However, the coveted UEFA Champions League (UCL) trophy has evaded them till now.

For the UCL 2024-25 season, Arsenal will be without the services of Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah and Aaron Ramsdale, who all have moved to different clubs within the Premier League.

However, the Gunners have brought on board Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea, alongside Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori and Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino. They have also bolstered their goalkeeping department with the additions of David Raya and Neto.

The UCL 2024-25 season will see the implementation of the new UEFA Champions League format, where instead of group stages, there will be a league phase followed by the knock-outs. There will also be 36 clubs participating instead of 32.

These clubs from Europe’s top football leagues will play eight matches against eight opponents - four at home and the rest away.

The results of all eight matches will determine the position of the clubs on the league table. The top eight sides will automatically qualify for the UCL round of 16.

The clubs positioned 9th to 24th will compete in a two-legged knock-out phase play-offs, while the rest will be eliminated. The eight clubs who win this round will fill the rest of the spots in the round of 16.

The eight clubs that Arsenal have been drawn against are Atalanta, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Shakhtar Donetsk, Inter Milan, Sporting CP, AS Monaco, GNK Dinamo Zagreb and Girona. Arsenal’s away fixtures are against Atalanta, Inter Milan, Sporting CP and Girona.

Arsenal will clash with PSG at the Emirates Stadium in London on October 2. The Gunners will take on the reigning Italian champions Inter Milan on November 7 at the San Siro Stadium.

The UCL 2024-25 league phase starts on September 17 and will run till January 30 and the knock-outs will begin in February. The final will be played on May 31 at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.

Apart from the UCL 2024-25, Arsenal will simultaneously compete in the Premier League, FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.
