Ravindra Jadeja Creates History, Becomes First Player In The World To Take 42 Wickets In IND vs ENG ODIs (Source: AP)

Ravindra Jadeja created history in the first ODI between India and England at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. Jadeja became the leading wicket-taker in the India vs England ODIs , surpassing James Anderson , who took 40 wickets in 31 matches. Jadeja reached the milestone in his 27th game.

Jadeja needed two wickets to surpass Anderson. He levelled with the England great after he dismissed Joe Root for 19. He also accounted for the wicket of Jacob Bethell, who scored a magnificent fifty before dismissing Adil Rashid, thus becoming the first player to take 42 wickets in IND vs ENG ODIs .

Meanwhile, India find themselves in a commanding position in the first ODI. England won the toss and opted to bat. Phil Salt and Ben Duckett gave the team a flying start, however, the team suffered a massive collapse. England were bowled out for 248. Harshit Rana was the pick of the fast bowlers and picked three wickets for India. He conceded 26 runs in his third over but bounced back in style to put India on top.

Earlier, India were forced to play Yashasvi Jaiswal in the playing XI after Virat Kohli was left out due to a knee injury.
