Arsenal transfer target flies in to complete medical after agreement reached

Club Brugge star Christos Tzolis is on the verge of completing a move to Arsenal this summer

Arsenal are reportedly closing in on completing the signing of Club Brugge star Christos Tzolis, with an update regarding the forward’s medical. The Gunners are advancing on a deal to bring the Greece international to the Emirates Stadium as they look to strengthen their squad for their Premier League title defence.

Tzolis, who registered 51 goal involvements last term (22 goals and 29 assists) has emerged as an early transfer target for Arsenal as they aim to bring in reinforcements to their forward line.

News emerged earlier this month that Arsenal had agreed a £34million deal with Brugge to sign Tzolis, who looks set to become the club’s second new arrival this summer after Illan Meslier.

Now, a fresh update has emerged about Tzolis’ future and a potential timeframe for a deal to take the 24-year-old to north London.

Greek journalist Dimitris Manakos has reported that Tzolis is expected to be in London on Tuesday to complete a medical to become an Arsenal player.

The report also claims that Arsenal are hopeful of announcing the completion of the deal to sign Tzolis on Wednesday, giving the club two more days to get the move wrapped up.

The deal for Tzolis comes at the same time that Arsenal have agreed to sell Leandro Trossard to Besiktas in a deal believed to be worth around £17million.

It remains to be seen if and when a deal for Tzolis gets wrapped up, but Arsenal are believed to be keen to bring more forwards to the club this summer.

Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers was a target for Arsenal throughout the summer transfer window, but the Gunners were handed a blow over the weekend after Chelsea agreed a £117million deal for the England international.

As a result, Arsenal will be expected to reassess their targets for the rest of the window, with the likes of Bradley Barcola, Eli Junior Kroupi and Julian Alvarez all mentioned as potential targets this summer.

Now that the World Cup has come to an end, Arsenal will wait for their full squad to return to pre-season training later this summer, with their opening fixture on August 1 against Girona.

Arsenal have until September 1 to complete their transfer business, but will also be mindful of their return to Premier League action next month.

Mikel Arteta and Co. will begin their title defence on August 21 with a home clash against newly-promoted Coventry City in the Friday Night Football.
