The rising tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack have spilled into the cricketing spectrum, as it so often happens. There are media reports that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) could ask the International Cricket Council (ICC) to keep India and Pakistan in separate groups in future global tournaments, while the official streaming partners of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in India have boycotted the T20 league.

As things stand, the Pakistan T20 league, PSL, stands to lose the most after Islamabad decided on Thursday that Indian nationals must leave the country within the next 48 hours. The decision was taken by Pakistan’s National Security Council.

PSL 2025 broadcast set to take massive hit

Now, the major worry here is that a large number of Indians are involved in the production of the Pakistan Super League matches. As per a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) source, over two dozen production and broadcast crew include Indian nationals and their sudden exit can jeopardise the telecast of the T20 league.

“Since more than two dozen of the production and broadcast crew of the PSL, included Indian nationals. Steps are being taken to replace them. The broadcast and production crew includes engineers, production managers, cameramen, player-tracking experts (all Indian nationals), who ensure a smooth coverage of the PSL,” a PCB source told Indian news agency PTI.

The source added that Indian nationals have been asked to restrict their movements till they leave the country, while the PCB is in touch with the PSL media rights holders to figure out how to replace the Indian broadcasting crew.

Earlier on Thursday, Fancode, the official streaming partners of PSL 2025 in India, removed all the Pakistan Super League content from its website and stopped live streaming of the matches. Fancode had been criticised on social media platforms by Indian users for continuing to show PSL matches after the Pahalgam terror attack.

Also, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has announced that the Indian team will continue to boycott Pakistan in bilateral matches. There are also reports that BCCI has asked ICC to keep India and Pakistan in different groups in the future ICC tournaments, but this claim has been debunked by a BCCI source.

In the heinous Pahalgam terror attack, at least 26 lives have been lost.
