Uncapped duo Jack Edwards and Mahli Beardman have been added to Australia’s white-ball squads for the ongoing series against India, while superstar Glenn Maxwell will return from injury next week.

On Friday morning, Cricket Australia announced that Blues captain Edwards and Tasmania spinner Matt Kuhnemann would join the ODI squad ahead of Saturday‘s dead rubber against India at the SCG. Khenamann played Sunday’s series opener in Perth as a replacement for first-choice tweaker Adam Zampa, but didn’t join the national squad for Thursday’s match in Adelaide.

Meanwhile, batter Marnus Labuschagne has left the ODI squad so he can play the third round of the Sheffield Shield for Queensland, building his preparations ahead of the Ashes.

Injured duo Maxwell and fast bowler Ben Dwarshuis will return to the national T20 squad next week, joining the Australian camp from game three and game four respectively. Maxwell fractured his wrist ahead of the recent T20 tour of New Zealand, while Dwarshuis was ruled out of the ODI series against India after damaging his calf.

Elsewhere, West Australian quick Mahli Beardman, who recently turned 20, will join the T20 squad from game three, replacing Test quick Josh Hazlewood. The Under-19 World Cup champion, a surprise selection for last year’s ODI tour of the United Kingdom, only has five List A games and two Big Bash matches under his belt.

Blues seamer Sean Abbott, currently undergoing a mandatory 12-day stand-down after damaging his hand during last week’s match against Victoria in Melbourne, will leave the T20 squad after game three so he can play the fourth round of the Sheffield Shield, suggesting he’s in the frame for an Ashes call-up.

NSW wicketkeeper Josh Philippe who impressed during last weekend’s ODI series opener against India in Perth, has also been added to the national T20 squad.

The third ODI between Australia and India gets underway at the SCG on Saturday, with the first ball scheduled for 2.30pm AEDT.
