England cricket match is delayed as West Indies team bus is stuck in London traffic for nearly TWO HOURS

The start of the third one-day international at The Oval has been delayed after the West Indies team got stuck in heavy traffic in Parliament Square en route to the game.

England’s players arrived on a mixture of Lime bikes and the underground from their hotel in High Street Kensington, nearly five miles away, after traffic-light issues at Vauxhall Bridge caused havoc with traffic trying crossing the Thames.

But the West Indians, who are staying in Chelsea, remained on their coach and eventually arrived at the ground at 12.30pm, half an hour before the scheduled start. What should have been a 15-minute journey took them closer to two hours.

They arrived to find the pitch at The Oval under covers, with rain in the air and more forecast for later, though the intention was to hold the toss at 1.10pm, a full 40 minutes after it was originally scheduled.

England lead the three-match series 2-0. They sealed the win in Cardiff on Sunday thanks to a masterclass in batting from Joe Root.

Widely-renowned as the best English batter to ever grip the willow, the Yorkshireman produced an unbeaten 166 to become the Three Lions' all-time leading run-scorer in one-day internationals.

Root cracked past Eoin Morgan - who led England to the World Cup in 2019 - who has the previous record of 6,957 runs.

His 18th ODI hundred brutally dispatched of the West Indies as he drove England to a three-wicket victory after what was a tricky start for Brendon McCullum's side.
