The exact date of the San Francisco 49ers' clash with the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia during the 2026 season has been revealed.The NFL announced Wednesday that the game will take place on Sept. 10, with kickoff at 8:35 p.m. ET.Due to the 17-hour time difference, both teams will take the field in Melbourne on Sept. 11 at 10:35 a.m. AEST.The contest marks the NFL's first regular-season game that will be played in Australia.The Rams were revealed as the host team in Feb. 2025 before the 49ers were announced as their opponent one year later.They'll be facing off at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).Nine international games will take place during the 2026 NFL season, setting a new record.San Francisco is set to compete in multiple international contests during the year, as it'll also be traveling to Mexico City later in the season.Both the 49ers and Rams will be attempting to return to the playoffs in 2026, as they finished with identical 12-5 records in 2025. Neither team was able to secure the top spot in the NFC West, as the Seattle Seahawks won the division with a 14-3 finish.Seattle also ended up defeating San Francisco and Los Angeles in the playoffs before capturing a Super Bowl title.The 49ers will be looking to improve offensively around Christian McCaffrey and Brock Purdy, bringing in veteran wide receiver Mike Evans on a three-year contract in free agency.
