Ruben Amorim's replacement at Sporting Lisbon has revealed an interesting piece of advice given to him by the new Manchester United manager.Sporting confirmed on Monday that former right-back and B team boss Joao Pereira, who enjoyed two separate spells with the Portuguese giants - the second under Amorim - as a player, will succeed 39-year-old Amorim following his move to United. Pereira takes over a side who've won their opening 11 Primeira Liga matches, putting them on course to win back-to-back league titles.Amorim's farewell was an epic 4-2 comeback win against Braga which keeps them six points clear of rivals Porto, but that's not the only thing he's passed on. In his unveiling press conference, Pereira said of his predecessor: "I remember a conversation, 'Joao, whenever you want to introduce something new into your team and you can't get it across, it's because you're not ready to get it across yet'."Those comments suggest that Amorim won't force his principles onto United's players if he doesn't feel the time is right. Some Red Devils supporters and pundits have expressed concern that if the highly-rated coach attempts to make too much of a change mid-season, United's players will struggle to adapt. But it appears Amorim looks at the bigger picture when developing a team. That being said, the ex-Portugal international is set to immediately change the Red Devils' formation, lining them up in a 3-4-3 formation for his first game away to Ipswich Town on Sunday, November 24.Get involved! "I know how I am going to play in the beginning, because you have to start with a structure that you know," Amorim confirmed after Sporting's second-half comeback on Sunday."Then you will adapt with the players that you have, some injuries, or no injuries, what kind of players have the abilities to defend, attack, I will discover that in the next few weeks. We don't have a lot of time to train, so I have to show something that I know very well. You can take whatever you want from that."Amorim added: "I feel ready for the new challenge. I'm not naive, I know it's going to be very different - very difficult. I'm not under any illusions. But it's what it has to be."Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
