U.S. tennis star Coco Gauff breezed into the semi-final of the 2025 Wuhan Open with a straight-sets win over Germany’s Laura Siegemund on Friday (10 October).

The world No.3 dominated the match, taking the first set, 6-3 and shutting out Siegemund in the second, 6-0.

After exchanging breaks early in the first set, Gauff took control, maintaining her impressive serve percentages. She scored eight aces while taking down Siegemund's own service game, breaking her opponent's serve four times and pressuring her to commit five double faults.

The USA player will next face either Italy’s Jasmine Paolini or Poland’s Iga Swiatek in the semi-final on Saturday.

The successful run in the People's Republic of China marks the second consecutive WTA 1000 semi-final for Gauff. She competed in the China Open semi-final less than a week ago, falling to eventual champion Amanda Anisimova.

Gauff has now recorded 16 wins on Chinese courts across her career.
