Tennis, Roland-Garros 2025: Coco Gauff sets up all-USA French Open quarter-final with win over Ekaterina Alexandrova

Coco Gauff has stormed into the Roland-Garros quarter-finals at the 2025 French Open on Monday (2 June).

The USA tennis star continued her run of fine form at the clay Grand Slam this year, defeating 20th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-0, 7-5 in the fourth round on a cool morning in Paris.

Yet to drop a set on her way to the round of 16, Gauff’s accuracy was unmatched as she broke on all three occasions to go 5-0 up. With twice as many return points won (63%) in the opening set, the USA star was racing through the gates early on.

Alexandrova had four opportunities to break Gauff and win her first game, though her unforced forehand errors kept the sixth game running. Gauff herself too needed until the third set point to seal the bagel – a 6-0 set score - inside 27 minutes.
