Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) failed to return to winning ways and suffered their sixth defeat of the IPL 2025 season to finish the day as the 7th-placed team. The Rishabh Pant-led side has only managed 5 wins from 11 matches. LSG only have 10 points in their account at an NRR of -0.469.

Their latest defeat came against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Dharamsala on Sunday (May 4). The visitors fell short by 37 runs in the chase to the big target of 237. LSG owner, Sanjiv Goenka , was present at the venue to support his team. But it wasn't a memorable day for LSG.

An hour after the end of the game, Sanjiv reacted to LSG's defeat with a post on X. He applauded the efforts of Ayush Badoni, Akash Singh and Abdul Samad in his post.

"A tough result in Dharamshala, but commendable knocks by our young talents@_AyushBadoni_and@ABDULSAMAD___1kept the fight alive and the spirit high. Inspiring performance by Akash Singh in his debut match for @LucknowIPL. Three games to go. Six points to play for. Fingers crossed," he wrote.

Badoni once again lived up to the promise and slammed 74 off just 40 balls. Batting with a strike rate of 185, the uncapped batter smashed 5 sixes and as many boundaries.

Abdul Samad hit 45 off 24 balls. He and Badoni added 81 runs for the sixth wicket to keep LSG's hopes alive. As for Akash, the left-arm pacer scalped 2 wickets in his four-over spell on his LSG debut. He went for 30 runs.

LSG can get to a maximum of 16 points even if they win their next three matches. They will need the results of other matches to go their way to make it to the top four.

They will return to Lucknow and host Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Friday (May 9). LSG will then travel to Ahmedabad to square off against Gujarat Titans on May 14. They will host Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last league stage match of the season on May 18.
