WTA Indian Wells Day 3 Predictions

Clara Tauson vs Camila Osorio

Head-to-Head: Tauson 0-1 Osorio

Clara Tauson is proving this season that if she is healthy and fit, she has the calibre to play top-20 tennis. Tauson is coming off a fantastic run to the final in Dubai and has the game to go deep here. She is playing high percentage tennis and is serving extremely well. Camila Osorio pulled a big upset in the first round as her variety proved to be a disruptor against an erratic Naomi Osaka. These slow conditions also suit the Colombian’s game. However, Tauson’s form and confidence are on another level and should help her clinch the victory.

Prediction: Tauson in 3

Danielle Collins vs Hailey Baptiste

Head-to-Head: Collins 1-0 Baptiste

Danielle Collins will be playing her first tournament since the Australian Open, making it difficult to anticipate her level. This is Collins’ seventh appearance at the Indian Wells Masters but she has never been past the third round here. The conditions here are traditionally opposite of what Collins likes and maybe her opponent and compatriot, Hailey Baptiste, can take advantage. Baptiste is not a very dangerous opponent by any means, but she has already played three matches here and put up a solid performance in the first round. I am going for an upset in this one.

Prediction: Baptiste in 3

Jelena Ostapenko vs Xinyu Wang

Head-to-Head: Ostapenko 1-0 Wang

Jelena Ostapenko was struggling for wins before her fantastic run in Doha, and if she can stay focused, she has the potential to go deep here. Indian Wells has never been a consistent tournament for Ostapenko but she did reach the semifinals back in 2021. Xinyu Wang is not going to be an easy opponent despite her poor form this year outside of Singapore. Wang’s grit and defense might frustrate Ostapenko, but the match would still be on her racquet.

Prediction: Ostapenko in 3

Iga Swiatek vs Caroline Garcia

Head-to-Head: Swiatek 4-1 Garcia

World No.2, Iga Swiatek has reached at least the quarterfinals in all of her tournaments this season but is yet to win a trophy. Her last two losses have come in straight sets and her frustration was evident in those losses. Indian Wells is the perfect tournament for her to get back to her best level as the conditions here perfectly complement Swiatek’s game. Caroline Garcia, on the other hand, dislikes the conditions here, and her previous results are a proof of this. In her ten main-draw appearances, the Frenchwoman has never advanced to the quarterfinals. She has lost three matches in a row against Swiatek and nothing suggests that she will end the streak this time.

Prediction: Swiatek in 2
