More infoIt is slowly starting to sink in that Newcastle United did indeed end their trophy drought at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, with the 2-1 weekend win over Liverpool being replayed countless times by those of a black and white persuasion in recent days. Now, attention turns to what comes next, with Newcastle confirming a celebration will take place before the month is out. All details are yet to be released but Toon fans have been told to keep Saturday March 29 free to see their heroes lift the cup once again. Here's what Chronicle Live knows about the plans so far.Why is there a celebration? While some cynical and downright miserable football fans have mocked Newcastle's decision to organise a celebration for a trophy that is affectionately dubbed the 'Micky Mouse Cup' by many naysayers, the north east outfit, rightly, feel they have big reasons to celebrate. After all, it needs no going over that this is United's first piece of domestic silverware in 70 years.Fans deserve the chance to celebrate with their new heroes and will undoubtedly flock to the designated location to do just that. Chief Newcastle United writer Lee Ryder recently wrote NUFC's players have guaranteed themselves immortality at Wembley - so it's only fair Eddie Howe's stars get the chance to bask in their new-found glory. What has been said?Newcastle United have released the date for fans to stick in their diary - Saturday March 29 - and have promised to announced further information in the coming days. A location is yet to be disclosed - and there is a possibility the celebration will NOT include a bus parade but instead be a celebration confined to one venue.Meanwhile, A Newcastle City Council spokesperson said: “Newcastle United’s win at Wembley was a fantastic result for the club, the city, and the fans worldwide.“We appreciate supporters can’t wait to celebrate this historic occasion, so we continue to liaise with the club while they draw up plans to mark this magnificent achievement. We stand ready to support and advise them in any way.”Why the delay?A host of Newcastle United's stars have jetted off on international duty, while the rest of the staff have flown to Dubai for a spot of warm weather training, with a bit more celebrating on the agenda. The Magpies are not back in action until April 2 after being knocked out of the FA Cup, which means next weekend is now a free one for the north east outfit."I certainly will be encouraging it [celebrating], which is very rare for me, believe me, usually I'm the other way, but no, we have to celebrate, we have to celebrate hopefully with our supporters, with, with everyone that's waited so long," Eddie Howe said at Wembley after his side made history.Newcastle's players enjoyed some well-earned celebrations on Sunday in the aftermath of the victory but you suspect the festivities on Tyneside will be a bit more low key given the senior stars are back in action against Brentford just a few days after the trophy is paraded around the city.Newcastle players can't wait to celebrateAs mentioned, some United stars were forced to miss the post-match party as they headed for the airport to link up with their international team-mates. Dan Burn, who days before his Wembley heroics was called up by England boss Thomas Tuchel, was one of those who had to enjoy a reasonably early night as Newcastle's stars partied post-Liverpool.For players like Burn - and Anthony Gordon, Tino Livramento, Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, Sandro Tonali - next Saturday's celebration will be the first real chance to enjoy United's big achievement with supporters. "My family and my kids were here so we got the bus back to hotel at about 12 and it was getting a bit rowdy - but I was just ready to go back to sleep," Burn said during his first England press conference."There will be time to celebrate. I know the club have put stuff out about there being a parade on the Saturday [29th] when we get back. So that's when I'll celebrate. But at the moment I knew I'd waited a long time for this opportunity and I didn't want to spoil it."
