Frank Lampard makes eight changes to his Coventry City team v Millwall in delayed Carabao Cup KO

Frank Lampard has made eight changes to his Coventry City side to face Millwall in the second round Carabao Cup tie at The Den where kick-off has been delayed by 15 minutes to 8pm due to the late arrival of the team bus due to heavy London traffic.

The Sky Blues boss has gone with a similar starting line-up to the one that beat Luton Town in the first round, going with Ben Wilson in goal in place of first choice Carl Rushworth, who provides back-up from the bench instead of Brad Collins who, interestingly, is not included in the squad.

The back four is the same as against the Hatters, with Kaine Kesler-Hayden at right-back, Miguel Brau at left-back and Bobby Thomas and Jake Bidwell at centre-half in what is expected to be a 4-4-2 formation.

The midfield sees Matt Grimes one of only three starters from Saturday’s league team and he will be deployed alongside Jamie Allen in the centre with Raphael on the right wing and Kai Andrews expected to be once again deployed on the left.

That leaves Ellis Simms and Brandon Thomas-Asante to lead the line as a big man, smaller man partnership up front on a night when Haji Wright and Justin Obikwu are striking options named on the bench.

City: Ben Wilson; Kaine Kesler-Hayden, Bobby Thomas, Jake Bidwell, Miguel Brau; Raphael Borges Rodrigues, Jamie Allen, Matt Grimes, Kai Andrews; Brandon Thomas-Asante, Ellis Simms.

Subs: Carl Rushworth (GK), Jay Dasilva, Liam Kitching, Jack Rudoni, Haji Wright, Milan van Ewijk, Victor Torp, Justin Obikwu, Callum Perry.
