Alexander Zverev is currently the favourite for the French Open after the shocking exits of Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic. Fans have highlighted the pressure on the German to win the Grand Slam title.

Zverev opened his French Open run on Sunday, May 24, where he defeated Benjamin Bonzi to advance to the second round. He met Tomas Machac in the second round, and after besting him, he most recently locked horns with Quentin Halys in the third round of the tournament. Delivering a strong performance, he registered a 6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 victory.

With him entering the fourth round of Roland Garros, he currently stands as the favourite after the unexpected loss of Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic in the second and third rounds, respectively. The internet is currently buzzing with Zverev having a better chance of winning the Grand Slam title. The Tennis Letter shared this update on X, writing:

“Jannik Sinner is OUT. Carlos Alcaraz is OUT (injury). Novak Djokovic is OUT. Alexander Zverev will never have a better chance at winning a Grand Slam title ever again than at this year’s Roland Garros.”

Fans have highlighted the mounting pressure on the German player. Stating how this might be one of the best chances for him to win the tournament, a fan on X wrote:

Another user on X took a dig at Zverev, stating that the pressure might get him.

Sharing the current position of the men’s singles at the French Open, one of the followers highlighted the best chance for Zverev to win, tweeting:

After prevailing over Quentin Halys in the third round of the French Open, Alexander Zverev made his feelings known about the showdown in the on-court interview. Opening up about how he managed to calm himself after losing the third set and praising his opponent, he said:

“He played amazing, the third set. I was up a break already, and then he came back playing incredibly aggressive tennis, serving unbelievable, saving a lot of break points, saving a lot of chances that I had, but him playing really good tennis. So, I knew that I just had to stay with my game. I’m going to get my chances, and I did in the fourth set. And I’m very happy with the level in the end and that I could finish it, you know, at 1:00 a.m., not 3:00 a.m,” said Alexander Zverev.
