Brentford seem to relish taking on the Premier League elite and they could rise to the challenge once more when they welcome league leaders Arsenal to west London.

Plenty of pundits had marked down the Bees for a campaign of struggle following a summer of upheaval but they are thriving under rookie manager Keith Andrews, who has them on course for their highest Premier League finish and a place in Europe next season.

Andrews has shown himself to be tactically astute and clearly has the respect of his players, who always seem prepared to push themselves to the limit.

Brentford's battling qualities were on full display at Aston Villa earlier this month, when they toughed it out after Kevin Schade's 42nd-minute dismissal to win 1-0. But they are also capable of more controlled performances, as they demonstrated in Saturday's fully deserved 3-2 victory at Newcastle.

Brentford are one of the most astute clubs in the division when it comes to player recruitment and summer signings Caoimhin Kelleher, Michael Kayode, Dango Ouattara and Jordan Henderson have been further proof of their proficiency in the transfer market.

All four have established themselves as key players and Henderson's leadership qualities and his ability to bring a touch of calmness to Brentford's play have particularly stood out.

The Bees have gathered 19 points from their last nine league games and they could prove dangerous opponents for Arsenal, who have reeled off four straight wins since the disappointment of last month's 3-2 loss to Manchester United.

He has registered 24 shots in his last 13 appearances and could prove the biggest threat to Arsenal's sturdy rearguard.
