Top Trade Packages for Raiders' Maxx Crosby After Cowboys' Rumored Interest

0
Last week, the Las Vegas Raiders fell to 2-5. Teams will inquire about Maxx Crosby's availability in hopes that the Raiders are sellers ahead of the November 4 trade deadline. One club might be first in line if the Silver and Black parts ways with its star pass-rusher.

According to former ESPN anchor Trey Wingo, who now hosts the Straight Facts Homie! Podcast, the Dallas Cowboys have expressed interest in acquiring Crosby.

ESPN's Adam Schefter appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and said the Cowboys are "having conversations" about how to improve their defense over the next two weeks.

As of right now, the Raiders haven't expressed interest in trading Crosby. He's an accomplished player and team captain. Also, the club just signed him to a three-year, $106.5 million extension in March.

Owner Mark Davis, who's been much involved with the team, would have to stamp his approval on this move, though Crosby may grow frustrated with the team's inability to sustain any progress since it drafted him in 2019.

If the Raiders were to move Crosby, the deal could look similar to their Khalil Mack package—the conversation would likely start with two first-round picks. Crosby isn't an All-Pro or Defensive Player of the Year like Mack was seven years ago, but he's a four-time Pro Bowler and one of the league's best pass-rushers.

Here are five teams that should be the most aggressive in trying to acquire Crosby and what those clubs should offer for him.

The Bills lost consecutive games headed into their Week 7 bye. They're fourth in pressure rate (26.8 percent), but the defense has recorded 15 sacks, which is a middling number leaguewide. Also, in the Bills' second loss, the Atlanta Falcons gashed them on the ground for 210 yards.

In free agency, Buffalo signed Joey Bosa, who's been solid on the edge, but at this stage in his career, he's playing less than 70 percent of the defensive snaps.

Crosby rarely comes off the field, and he can strengthen the Bills' 31st-ranked run defense, which is giving up a league-high 5.8 yards per carry.

Buffalo would have to engage in cap-space gymnastics to absorb Crosby's contract, but it can be done by restructuring deals and trading veteran players.

The Raiders could acquire Epenesa, a 27-year-old defensive end, to help fill a void on the edge and Samuel, who would provide a veteran presence at wide receiver. Remember, wideout Jakobi Meyers wants a new deal. Las Vegas could trade him or allow his contract to expire next offseason.

Las Vegas Raiders Get: 2026 1st-round pick, 2026 5th-round pick, 2027 1st-round pick, 2027 6th-round pick, DT Mazi Smith

As ESPN's Adam Schefter noted, Dallas will look to improve its defense to complement its No. 2 scoring offense, which leads the league in total yards.

Among potential suitors for Crosby, the Cowboys are in the best position to acquire him.

In August, Dallas traded edge-rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. In that deal, the Cowboys acquired two first-rounders from the Packers. They could use those picks in a package to land Crosby and still have first-rounders in the next two drafts.

Las Vegas may be interested in this deal because, even with Crosby, Dallas (3-3-1) isn't a lock to finish with one of the league's best records. The Raiders can also try to develop Mazi Smith, who's no longer a starter on the Cowboys' defensive line after the team brought in Kenny Clark in the Parsons deal.

In 2018, when the Raiders tore down their roster under former head coach Jon Gruden, they traded wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Cowboys. Owner Mark Davis could send another homegrown Pro Bowl player to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

With all that said, the Raiders would have to face Crosby in a Week 11 home matchup against the Cowboys on Monday Night Football, which would be gut-wrenching for home fans.

Las Vegas could send Crosby to his home state of Michigan. Growing up, he was a Lions fan and played college football at Eastern Michigan.

From a football perspective, Detroit would have arguably the league's best pass-rushing duo with Crosby and Aidan Hutchinson bookending its defensive line.

The Lions have $25.1 million in cap space. They will likely sign Hutchinson to a massive extension in the near future, but the front office can structure his new deal to incorporate Crosby's contract in the short term, though the budget will get tight in the years to come.

It's worth noting that Crosby doesn't have any dead money on his contract beyond the 2026 season. Hutchinson's rookie deal runs through 2026. In 2027, the Lions can start to pay Hutchinson his new money and restructure Crosby's contract to make it all work under the salary cap.

The Raiders would find the most value in the Lions' draft capital. They can insert Lopez into their defensive line rotation to strengthen a unit that's allowed nine rushing touchdowns in seven games.

The 49ers need help on defense. Nick Bosa and Fred Warner suffered season-ending injuries.

Why not swing for the fences while older offensive veterans Trent Williams and Christian McCaffrey are healthy on a team that's atop its division? By the way, San Francisco has $23 million in cap space.

Raiders fans would hate to see Crosby wearing the colors of an old Bay Area rival, but this move would still send him outside the conference.

Moreover, Las Vegas would acquire Jennings, who could easily lead the team in multiple receiving categories if healthy.

Jennings recorded 77 catches for 975 yards and six touchdowns in a breakout 2024 campaign. He's battling multiple injuries this year, but the 28-year-old could be a long-term asset in Las Vegas.

Before the start of the season, the 49ers restructured Jennings' contract. Yet once Brandon Aiyuk and Ricky Pearsall are healthy, he may be the third wide receiver option and fourth pass-catching option if you include George Kittle in San Francisco's aerial attack.

With Meyers on an expiring deal and a possible trade target, the Raiders can feature Brock Bowers and Jennings until rookie wideouts Jack Bech and Dont'e Thornton Jr. are ready to take on bigger roles.
