The incident resulted in the deaths of 11 people, including a woman and a boy.More than 50 fans were injured in the stampede with fears that there could be more fatalities in the aftermath of the incident.Disaster struck when hundreds of fans attempted to enter the stadium through one gate.The Times of India claims fans rushed in from multiple gates to see their team following their historic victory.But multiple people were trampled on and crushed in the melee.Police outside the stadium ran at the crowd with batons in order to disperse them.Medical attention was given to the victims outside the stadium as ambulances battled through the crowds to take those affected to hospital.The reports says four people died at Vydehi Multispecialty Hospital, with three people pronounced dead on arrival at another local medical facility.Fans were seen with graphic injuries while another was seen with a broken leg.Large crowds continued to gather outside the stadium on Wednesday afternoon despite the incident.6 11 people have been killed and more than 50 have been injured in the stampede Credit: Getty6 Police and ambulances were called to the scene Credit: AFP6 It's not clear who is at fault for the fatalities Credit: GettyA celebration for the team had been planned but a parade route from Vidhana Soudha to the ground was cancelled due to health and safety fears.Concerns were raised on Tuesday night when RCB got the better of Punjab Kings to win the competition.In the celebrations that followed, there were instances of violence with one man suffering injuries to his throat.BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) secretary Devajit Saikia admitted that 'some lapses' on the part of the organisers may have contributed to the incident."I am not in a fault finding mission at this moment without knowing the complete fact,” he told NDTV.“Whenever these kinds of events are being organised, if you take the example of how BCCI organised such victory celebration after India won the T20 World Cup in West Indies last year, there was a thorough planning with local cricket association - that is the Mumbai Cricket Association - as well as the Mumbai authorities, which includes the police, the fire brigade, the disaster management authorities.6 The inquiry on the horrifying events will get underway Credit: Getty“When planning that magnitude of celebration in Mumbai, when there was a sea of humanity, where so many people gathered, everything happened smoothly.
