Bryan Mbeumo could become the third Cameroon international to play for Manchester United. It has been clear so far this summer that Manchester United are focusing on adding goals to the team ahead of the 2025/26 season. After a dire campaign, finishing 15th in the Premier League, it shouldn’t come as a surprise.Ruben Amorim gradually improved United’s defence during his first six months in charge as United head coach, and he presumably feels that the team will win more football matches next season if they can add more firepower to the attacking department. That creates uncertainty for several players, including Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford. They could all leave Old Trafford ahead of the new season.United have signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, and only time will tell if Ineos can add Bryan Mbeumo to the squad. It emerged earlier this week that United have made a second bid to sign Mbeumo.Photo by Mike Hewitt/Getty ImagesManchester United history with Cameroon starsOnly two Cameroon internationals have been lucky enough to play for United. They include Eric Djemba-Djemba and Andre Onana, with the former being the current first-choice goalkeeper.More United NewsSir Alex Ferguson infamously signed Djemba-Djemba in 2003, with United paying £3.5m to land him from Nantes. The midfielder had an abysmal spell at Old Trafford, despite arriving with the laughable label of being the ‘new Roy Keane’, before managing 39 appearances before being sold to Aston Villa in 2005.Djemba-Djemba was part of an FA Cup-winning side but his highlight performance saw him man-marking Deco in a 2004 Champions League clash against FC Porto – which saw United eliminated. It took United another 10 years to sign a Cameroon international as Andre Onana joined in a £47.2 million transfer from Inter Milan.Onana is the current first-choice goalkeeper under Ruben Amorim, but he has been linked to other clubs this summer. However, Onana has struggled to perform in his first two seasons at United, with many of his mistakes leading to goals for the opposition. The Cameroonian keeper has been identified as a weakness by many, yet club legend Edwin van der Sar has urged United to back him.Manchester United players from Cameroon:If Mbeumo is to become the third Cameroon international to play for United, Ineos must pay more than what they had to for Djemba-Djemba and Onana combined.United are hoping to sign Mbeumo by the end of the month, and they will be hoping he proves to be a greater success than the Cameroon players that came before him. It’s more than achievable for a player who scored 20 Premier League goals last term.Mbeumo record for CameroonAfter being born in France, Mbeumo played for the French youth teams before making his debut for the senior Cameroon side in September 2022.Mbeumo has since made 22 appearances for Cameroon and is a teammate of Onana.Games Goals Assists 22 6 2 Bryan Mbeumo record for CameroonThat means he would find it easy to settle at United, should the Red Devils reach an agreement with Brentford.Mbeumo’s career is on the rise and he will be aiming to provide more goals for Cameroon in the future.
