AFL All Australian awards 2026 LIVE updates: Team announcement, Rising Star, Coleman Medal, Sydney Swans players; Charlie Curnow absence, Max Gawn record

Ladder leaders Fremantle have eight players named in the All-Australian squad, with Caleb Serong, Murphy Reid, Shai Bolton, Jye Amiss, Josh Treacy, Luke Jackson, Jordan Clark and Alex Pearce all getting the nod.

From the 46 players named, eight is a Dockers record and the most for a club in 2026.

Carlton’s Jagga Smith is a heavy favourite to win the Rising Star award just one year on from an ACL tear but teammate Harry Dean is also in the conversation.

The Blues took Smith with the third pick in the 2024 draft and he looked set to have an immediate impact. However, his 2025 was over before it began, tearing his ACL in his first pre-season.

The silver lining of that injury was a full year to build up his slight frame for the rigours of AFL football and ease himself into the top-level systems and make an impact for top accolades.

Now him and Dean have been pitted against each other for this year’s Rising Star award, but it can only be one that walks away victorious.

Sydney star Charlie Curnow will not attend this year’s AFL Awards night, where he would have been presented with this year’s Coleman Medal.

The 29-year-old won the award for most goals kicked by a player this season with 69, making it the third time he has claimed the prestigious honour.

However, he has elected not to receive the medal in person, in the wake of the scandal that has enveloped Sydney across the last week.

He will also not be there to receive his All-Australian blazer, assuming he makes the team, which will be announced on Tuesday night.

Teammate Brodie Grundy also made the All-Australian squad and is also not expected to be in attendance.
