The funeral mass will be held at St Peter & Paul’s Church at 1pm on Wednesday, with burial afterwards in St Patrick’s Cemetery.

Tributes have been paid to Mr Ryan from across the GAA world in Co Tipperary following his untimely passing.

Tipperary GAA legend Joe Hayes said he was “a giant of a Tipperary and Commercial man. He gave so much to football both to his beloved Tipperary and his club”.

Hayes said he would be missed by all, adding that his contribution to Tipperary GAA was huge and “his achievements in life as a husband, father, player, and later as a manager will forever be remembered”.

Former Tipperary football manager Colm O’Flaherty extended his sympathies to Mr Ryan’s family.

“His contribution to his beloved Commercials and Tipperary football will never be forgotten. His legacy will now live on through Shane,” he said.

As a mark of respect to Mr Ryan, yesterday’s senior football match between Clonmel Commercials and Upperchurch Drombane was postponed.
