Three years on from its blazing debut in Birmingham, Alabama, flag football is back for The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, People's Republic of China.

From 14-17 August, eight of the sport’s top international women’s teams will contest the title at Chengdu No. 7 High School Eastern Campus Athletics Field.

Arriving as defending champions are Mexico, who prevailed 39-6 over their perennial rivals, the United States of America, back in the tournament's last edition.

Star quarterback Diana Flores, who masterminded victory then, is set to lead her national team for a second chance, bolstering Mexico’s chances of going back-to-back.

But the competition will be fierce.

Among the hunting group are three-time world champions, USA, led by veteran Vanita Krouch, whose sole loss as an international quarterback was the 2022 title game; world number three and Asia-Oceania champions Japan and reigning European title holders, Great Britain.

Throw in strong European challengers in Italy and Austria, plus an unknown quantity from the People’s Republic of China, who will make their international competition debut at home in Chengdu, and the outcome is an intriguing tournament full of potential drama.
