BCCI tightens social media rules as CSK net bowler Jishan Adil removes viral camp videos, raising concerns over behind the scenes IPL content.

A net bowler for the Chennai Super Kings, Jishan Adil, has said that the team management asked him to remove his bowling videos from the camp, days after BCCI’s crackdown on social media usage came to light.

BCCI’s latest move comes amidst growing concerns over increased social media activity around teams, with officials wary that videos, reels and behind-the-scenes content could reveal sensitive information.

The heightened scrutiny has already led to action against former cricketers working in broadcast roles during the ongoing season. Ahead of the tournament, BCCI had issued stricter operational and anti-corruption guidelines to broadcasters, including detailed instructions for crew members regarding access and behaviour in restricted zones around players and match officials.

“Hi everyone, as you all know, I have been posting my bowling videos from the CSK camp and thanks to you all, they all got viral within a few days. Unfortunately, CSK management has asked me to remove the videos from my social media," Adil posted on his Instagram story.

“There have been a few breaches by a few commentators. One former international cricketer was found making videos on his phone near the dugout in a tense situation of a match," a BCCI source said while speaking to The Times of India.

BCCI’s concerns appear to stem from the rapid rise of content creation around the IPL ecosystem, with players, former cricketers, influencers and even family members sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses from team hotels, airports and match venues.

The anti-corruption crackdown has now extended to the immediate circles of players as well. As per reports, family members of cricketers have been advised against posting pictures or videos during the tournament, while teams are also being monitored over unrestricted access granted to social media creators within team environments.
