THey thus won the series by a margin of 3-0. Rohit Sharma was expected to carry forward his golden run with the bat, after slamming a century in the 2nd match. However, he got out for just one run. However, despite his poor show with the bat, the Indian captain managed to create history as he achieved a feat that even skippers like MS Dhonu and Virat Kohli failed to achieve.The 3-0 whitewash against England at home was the fourth series whitewashed by India under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. He is now the India captain with most ODI whitewashes under his name. Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni jointly held the the feat earlier with three ODI series whitewashes. India suffered a blow early as Mark Wood dismissed Rohit Sharma for just 1 run. However, it was Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli who rescued the innings from there. Kohli got out after scoring a well-made 52, but Gill continued the onslaught alongside Shreyas Iyer. The young opener slammed a fantastic century scoring 112. Iyer also slammed 74, as India managed to score 356/10 in their 50 overs.The England batters never really got going as they heavily faltered in the run-chase. Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya picked up 2 wickets each as the visitors were bundled out for 214. India thus won the match by 152 runs.
