Pundit shares what he really liked about Jadon Sancho after Chelsea’s win over Bournemouth

Chelsea’s victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League at the weekend can be put down to the impact made by their substitutes.

Enzo Maresca looked to his bench when things weren’t going their way, and they repaid the faith in the final moments.

Jadon Sancho and Christopher Nkunku linked up well for the game’s only goal, with both putting in claims to start the next game.

The England international was making his first appearance for the club after his deadline day signing.

While pundit Leon Osman was impressed with what he saw on the pitch from the winger, it was the way he conducted himself in the interview after the game that made the biggest impact on him.

Osman impressed with Sancho’s interview after Chelsea win

He said to the Premier League’s website: “His interview after the game was really good as well. He was thanking the staff, he was thanking his teammates because he seems to already feel very settled.

“I have not seen him talk like that in the last couple of seasons about how happy he is and thankful that they made him feel so comfortable and a player of that quality that feels comfortable will give you this kind of performance and he looks like he might have found his home, he might have found the place where he’s meant to be playing football because this is the Jadon Sancho that we all know he’s capable of being the one that lit up his time in Dortmund the first time certainly.

“I am not saying we have seen it enough since, but he sparkled at times, he drew defenders in, he showed quality, he wanted the ball, he was hungry and it created a number of chances in the game. [-And if you have got a player like that who can do this, he’s a real bright spark for your club.”

Enzo Maresca has high hopes for Sancho

Maresca had claimed that he had high hopes for what Sancho could bring to his side, and he saw this happen in just 45 minutes at the weekend.

The decision the manager now has to make is whether he feels he has earned a start next weekend, when the Blues take on West Ham away from home.

There is plenty of competition for the wide places at Chelsea, however Sancho has proven that he can certainly make the desired impact when given the chance.
