Roger Federer To Face Andy Roddick in Singles

Federer will first face one of his old-time rivals, Andy Roddick, in a singles exhibition on August 25. The two played 24 times on the ATP Tour during their careers, with Federer dominating the rivalry by winning 21 of their meetings.

Ever since stepping away from professional tennis, Federer has never played a full set in singles, making his upcoming meeting with Roddick particularly intriguing for fans.

Earlier this year, Federer visited the Australian Open, where he played a practice tie-breaker against Casper Ruud and also featured in a doubles exhibition.

Now, the Swiss legend will get another opportunity to pick up a racquet in front of a packed New York crowd, this time against one of his most familiar opponents from his playing days.

Federer will also have his family with him for the special occasion, including his wife Mirka, sons Leo and Lenny, and daughters Myla and Charlene.

Federer's appearance at the US Open will not end with his singles match against Roddick. The 20-time Grand Slam champion will later team up with another tennis legend, John McEnroe, in a doubles exhibition against Roddick and Andre Agassi.

The event is part of a larger celebration for Federer, who will be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport on August 29.

The US Open exhibition therefore serves as a fitting precursor to another major moment in the Swiss star's post-retirement journey.
