Man Utd news: Newcastle 'put Sandro Tonali up for sale' as contact made over record-breaking deal

Manchester United transfer news is heating up

Manchester United are reportedly making moves in the transfer market before the window even opens this summer after already securing Champions League qualification for next season. They are back after two years away, and the return of European football after missing out entirely last term can only help their recruitment.

Midfield will be their focus, with multiple signings needed there. Casemiro is confirmed to be leaving the club and Manuel Ugarte could be on the way out.

Tonali 'up for sale'

Sandro Tonali is up for sale and will leave Newcastle United this summer, according to Corriere della Sera. The Italian newspaper reports that United are in pole position to sign the midfielder.

They are expecting a massive offer from a Premier League club. The Reds apparently appear further ahead than other English sides.

United would reportedly be ready to welcome Tonali, who is said not to be overlooking them as an option. As an Italian abroad, there are Serie A clubs credited with an interest in the boyhood Milan fan but Newcastle's asking price is seemingly too much for the likes of Juventus.

These reports claim it would cost much more than £70million to agree a deal for Tonali. Other outlets in Italy claim he could cost £87million (€100million).

United eye record deal

United have shown interest in Christos Tzolis over the past few weeks, according to Gazet van Antwerpen. Aston Villa and Juventus are also said to have done the same, but the publication claims that United, especially, has.

Sport Witness adds that the two Premier League clubs have made enquiries about the Club Brugge player. Tzolis has scored 19 goals and assisted another 24 across 49 appearances in all competitions, with three more matches to go in the Belgian Pro League champions' play-offs.

There is said to be an acceptance in Bruges that the Greece international will be going this summer. Crystal Palace offered £28million a year ago but his club now want any move to be a Belgian record transfer.

The current high stands at £34million, which Milan agreed to pay Brugge for Ardon Jashari last summer. After sticking to their stance on receiving more for the Switzerland international than they did for Igor Thiago, it seems that will be the starting point for any negotiation.
