Mayank Agarwal signs up for short stint with Durham

Indian batter Mayank Agarwal has signed a short-term deal with Durham, that makes him available for the final four County Championship fixtures of the season.

Agarwal, who has a double century in Test cricket, has featured 21 times for India in the red-ball format apart from featuring in five ODIs. While his last appearance for the national team came more than four years ago, the veteran continues to play for his domestic side Karnataka in first-class cricket. Agarwal was also part of RCB's victorious XI in last year's IPL final.

Around the same time last year, Agarwal had signed up with Yorkshire for his maiden county stint, featuring in three games. Even though he registered a couple of ducks in his first three innings, Agarwal bowed out in style by smashing 175 against his current team Durham.

“We are delighted to have Mayank joining us for our County Championship run in," Head Coach, Ryan Campbell said. “With David Bedingham returning to South Africa ahead of their international red ball summer it was important we acted by recruiting a high-class international cricketer for the remainder of the season. “Mayank is a hugely talented batter who has a superb first-class record, we look forward to him contributing to Durham as we look to secure our return to Division One of the County Championship.”
