Ogun Sports Commissioner Rallies Fans Ahead of Super Falcons’ WAFCON Qualifier in Abeokuta

Ogun State Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, has called on football lovers across the state to troop out in large numbers to the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, on Tuesday to cheer the Super Falcons as they face Benin Republic in the final qualifying fixture for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Super Falcons, nine-time African champions, go into the return leg with a comfortable 2-0 advantage after defeating their West African neighbours in the first leg played on Friday in Lomé, Togo.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Hon. Isiaka urged residents to turn out massively and create a charged atmosphere to motivate the team to seal qualification on home soil.

“This is a great opportunity for Ogun people to witness top-class women’s football and to support our national team. The Super Falcons have made us proud over the years, and our presence in the stands will inspire them to another victory,” the commissioner said.

He assured fans of adequate security and a thrilling football experience, adding that arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and colourful event.

The decisive clash between Nigeria and Benin Republic is scheduled to kick off at 4:00 PM at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta, with victory guaranteeing the Falcons a ticket to defend their continental crown at next year’s WAFCON.
