St Kilda coach Ross Lyon went at the AFL this week after youngster Alix Tauru was handed a four-match suspension.

Tauru was set to miss six weeks of football due to the Saints having two bye rounds in the VFL, but his ban will begin this weekend, even though it is a bye round for St Kilda's VFL side.

"Common sense prevailed," he tells Fox Footy.

"Laura Kane exercised her discretion ... but we just should have never gotten to that.

"The AFL shouldn't have to worry about it and clubs shouldn't have to worry about it.

"You'd think whoever is in charge of the tribunal has common sense to take care of it, but it's sorted now, so hopefully it just sets a precedent for everyone."
