Pep Guardiola wary of three main qualities Wolves possess as he shares 'incredible' verdict

Wolves head to Manchester City in a thrilling showdown on Friday night, and ahead of the clash at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola has spoken about Vitor Pereira’s men.

Wolves will be looking to make it seven successive Premier League wins after Pereira made history last time out.

The Old Gold have been in excellent form in recent weeks, resulting in a rapid rise up the table, with Wolves set to pocket an increase in prize money.

A trip to face Man City, though, is arguably the toughest fixture they’ve faced since their winning run started against Southampton in March.

Wolves have achieved an extraordinary rise under Pereira since he joined the club in December, leading them away from the threat of relegation and now dreaming of a top-half finish.

Guardiola, who has faced Pereira before in his managerial career, will come up against the Portuguese tactician for the first time in the Premier League, setting up an intriguing battle between two top coaches.

Ahead of the clash at the Etihad, the Spaniard was asked about Wolves, and he gave three reasons why he’s wary of the visitors, while praising them for their ‘incredible’ run.

“The quality they have, the shape they play, the courage. It’s no surprise; I think Wolves always had in the last years really, really good players and now they have an incredible run,” Guardiola said.

“It’s quite similar to when Newcastle came [to the Etihad] one month ago and Aston Villa came, so yeah – another Final for us! It’s an important game we have ahead of us…”

Pereira receiving praise from one of the best managers in the world is just a testament to the remarkable job he’s done in Wolverhampton, as he continues to thrill and excite with his style of football.

Wolves can send a statement to the rest of the Premier League with a win

Now their Premier League status is secure for another campaign, there is little to aim for in the table, other than finishing higher and the increase in prize money that comes with it.

However, when they play against one of the best teams in England, Wolves can send a statement to the rest of the division by winning.

The Wanderers have already sealed six wins on the bounce but ahead of a crucial summer transfer window, beating Man City will pique the interests of most potential signings.

Although their levels have significantly dropped, it’s still a daunting task for most teams to go there and win.

That means a solid performance under the watchful eye of Pereira will not only show how far they’ve come in five months but also make Nelson Semedo’s aim of Champions League football look all the more achievable in 2025/26.
