Andros Townsend predicts Premier League title winners as he shares concern for Liverpool

Liverpool will already turn their focus back to the Premier League after thrashing Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.

Luis Diaz shone for Liverpool with a hat-trick in the 4-0 win at Anfield, with Cody Gakpo also on the scoresheet.

It was another difficult test passed by Arne Slot, with his Liverpool side now top of the Champions League table.

The Reds have four wins from four, having also beaten AC Milan, Bologna and RB Leipzig in Europe this season.

But they are also flying high in the Premier League, with Liverpool in first place thanks to eight wins from 10.

Andros Townsend shares Liverpool concern in Premier League title prediction

Their success has coincided with a drop in form from rivals Man City, who have lost their last three matches in all competitions.

But BBC pundit Andros Townsend is not worried about Pep Guardiola’s side this season, saying on the Football Daily podcast: “For me I don’t worry about Manchester City.

“I know the turn of the year in February or March they are going to go on a 13, 14, 15-match winning streak and win the league again.

“So, if it was Liverpool or Arsenal you would probably be more concerned, but City you know they have what it takes.”

Liverpool shine under Arne Slot as Man City struggle

On the same night Liverpool enjoyed a super Champions League result, Man City were dealt a crushing blow.

Guardiola’s side were hammered 4-1 by Sporting Lisbon, following their defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth in the League Cup and Premier League respectively.

It is a worrying period for the Premier League champions, who travel to Brighton on Saturday in a bid to get their league campaign back on track.
