Mikel Arteta could finally sign his dream Arsenal target if Stan Kroenke agrees to pay just £8.5m more

Arsenal have still not signed a single player in the summer transfer window.

A mini-window was open for 10 days before the Club World Cup for teams to sign players, and the bigger window has been open for eight days now as well.

Yet, there have been no new arrivals at Arsenal, and that is frustrating many fans across the globe.

Now, there is an update on one of Mikel Arteta’s dream targets for Arsenal, and some ambition from Stan Kroenke could seal the deal.

Stan Kroenke can seal Benjamin Sesko to Arsenal deal by sanctioning an extra £8.5m

Benjamin Sesko has been Arsenal’s top target for over a year now.

The RB Leipzig star is one of the best young strikers in world football, and both Edu and Arteta wanted him signed this time last year.

But, Sesko rejected Arsenal at the time to stay another year at the Red Bull Arena. That’s now done, and the Gunners are pushing to get him again.

According to the Independent, the two clubs are just €10 million (£8.5m) apart in their valuations of Sesko, which is the reason why the deal has not been completed yet.

Sesko’s release clause stands at €80 million (£68.3m), but Arsenal are trying to get a deal done through instalments for around €70 million (£59.8m).

Leipzig are standing firm on their demands at the moment, but the report claims that ‘the Arsenal hierarchy are aware the Bundesliga club have a pressure to sell given that they did not secure Champions League football for next season’.

However, if Leipzig’s stance does not change before Arsenal’s pre-season tour begins, Gunners owner Kroenke should just sanction the extra £8.5 million to bring Sesko in.

Stan Kroenke has the chance to make a statement at Arsenal

For years, Kroenke has been heavily criticised by Arsenal fans.

Some of it may have been a bit unfair, but the Arsenal owner has made his fair share of mistakes over the years as well.

Now, the time has come to earn the trust of the fans again. If he steps up with the additional £8.5 million to seal the Sesko deal instead of allowing it to drag on, he will become a hero to Arsenal supporters.

That would also send a big message to the rivals that Arsenal do not lack ambition and are prepared to go all out to end their Premier League trophy drought.

However, if Kroenke fails and Arsenal end up without Sesko, who is Arteta’s preferred target, fans will turn on him again.
