The new Premier League season is on the horizon with preparations now well underway for the 2025/26 campaign at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal discover their schedule for the new season today (Wednesday), with any new signings now knowing who they could make their competitive debuts for the club against. The Gunners will be hoping to have a couple of new faces in their squad for the opening game of the season.

There has been a lot of talk over potential comings and goings over the last few weeks. With the transfer window now officially back open, things could potentially ramp up as the build up to the new season starts.

With that in mind, football.london takes a look at a couple of the latest transfer stories around Arsenal and gives a view on each:

Benjamin Sesko stance

Arsenal are not willing to meet Red Bull Leipzig’s current demands for striker Benjamin Sesko, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.

The Gunners have been in talks with the German club over a possible transfer for the Slovenia international. However, it is said that Leipzig want a fee of €80-100 million (£68-£85.5m), a fee that Arsenal are not willing to pay.

Arsenal are said to remain in contact with the player over a possible move, although personal terms with Sesko himself are yet to be fully agreed.

FL says : It looks like Arsenal’s search for a striker may go on for a bit longer yet. While the club seems to have steered towards Sesko as their preferred option, Leipzig’s demands could potentially cause them to turn attention back to Viktor Gyokeres, who may be available for a similar, or possibly lower price.

It may be a saga that continues until later on in the transfer window, with Arsenal looking to get the best deal possible.

Rodrygo demand

Arsenal have a ‘genuine interest’ in Real Madrid winger Rodrygo this summer, with journalist Ben Jacobs claiming that the club have held talks on the player’s side.

However, the Brazilian would be a big investment for Arsenal in the transfer window with Real Madrid making it clear they want a fee of around €90 million (£76.9m) for the player if they are to sell.

FL says : While Rodrygo would be a good signing for Arsenal in the summer window, I think Real Madrid’s demand is too much, especially considering that Arsenal need to prioritise the signing of a centre-forward.

Instead of paying the fee demanded by Real Madrid, the Gunners would be better investing some more in a top quality striker, such as Sesko. In an ideal world, Real will lower their demands, meaning that Arsenal would then be able to make their move.
