FSU enters the game with a 3-3 record, including an 0-3 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The Seminoles have lost three in a row, all conference games, and not won a game since September 20th. FSU is also 0-1 on the season, as they lost their lone road game so far at Virginia, 46-38 in 2OT. The Seminoles are guided by head coach Mike Norvell who is in his 10th season as a head coach and sixth season with the Seminoles. Norvell is 74-45 over his career, including 36-30 at FSU.

Stanford is 2-4 on the season, including 1-2 in ACC play. The Cardinal are 2-0 at home, with their lone league victory coming at Stanford Stadium against Boston College. The Cardinal are led by interim head coach Frank Reich, who is 2-4 in his first season as a college head coach. Reich previously has NFL head coaching experience.

They opened the season with a 23-20 loss at Hawai'i and followed that with a 27-3 loss at BYU two weeks later. They earned their first victory of the season in their first ACC contest, defeating Boston College, 30-20, on the farm. They followed that up with a 48-20 loss at Virginia. Their second win of the season came on the final weekend of September when they defeated San Jose State, 30-29, at home. This past weekend they lost 34-10 at SMU.

They are 2-0 at home on the season. The Cardinal is attempting to start a season 3-0 at home for the first time since 2018. A win would push Stanford's home winning streak to four games, dating back to last season.

Saturday evening's meeting between FSU and Stanford marks the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

The Seminoles are playing a regular-season game in California for the first time since a 14-7 win at USC to open the 1997 season.

The 10:30 p.m. ET kickoff will tie the latest scheduled start for FSU, matching games at San Diego State in 1973 and 1977.

After facing Stanford, FSU will have their second bye of the season before returning to action by hosting Wake Forest at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla. on Saturday, November 1st. Kickoff time and television to be announced, likely on Monday of this coming week.
