Arsenal stance on signing wantaway Manchester United wonderkid JJ Gabriel revealed

Arsenal holds an interest in the talented teenager JJ Gabriel, football.london understands, amid news he could leave Manchester United.

United were rocked when learning that talented starlet Gabriel had requested to leave the club and have his registration cancelled. Gabriel has been considered one of the country’s best young talents and has already been given opportunities at the senior level in pre-season.

Ahead of United’s Carabao Cup clash with Brighton, there was an expectation that the North London-born youngster would feature until his decision to notify United of his intentions surrounding his future. Arsenal lost talented striker Chido Obi Martin and defender Ayden Heaven to United in recent seasons, but have recently secured James Scanlon and Habeeb Ogunneye from the Red Devils.

They were successful in beating United to the acquisition of Igor Tyjon from Blackburn Rovers, too. The Gunners have shown that young players will be given senior opportunities at a very young age, with both Max Dowman and Marli Salmon making their debuts last season at just 15 and 16, respectively.

Gabriel is a player who can play through the middle or off the left, and with Arsenal’s current left wing options thin after the departures of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, there is certainly a pathway to more game time for a talented youngster. Gabriel even spent time at a very young age at Arsenal and Chelsea’s academies before eventually landing at Manchester United.

football.london understands both Manchester City and Barcelona are also very keen on Gabriel, with all of Europe’s elite clubs notified of the potential opportunity of signing the starlet. Arsenal, with a new Academy Director, Pascal de Maesschalck, have been on a big drive to sign up young stars from around the world.

Victor Ozhianvuna from Shamrock Rovers will arrive in January, while Holger and Edwin Quintero will come in the summer from Independiente alongside Andria Bartishvili when his contract expires with Kolkheti 1913. An investment well exceeding £10million has been spent on the trio for next summer, it is believed, with Arsenal keen to secure talent for the future.

JJ Gabriel will be a player who would be seen as a massive coup for Arsenal if they were successful in convincing him of their project. As champions, and favourites to repeat, they are in a far stronger position than United are when it comes to convincing him to stay.
