Equestrian Eventing - India performance

Equestrian at the 2026 Asian Games got going with eventing dressage for the team and individual categories. India fielded three competitors in this event: Fouaad Mirza, a double silver-medallist at the Asian Games in this discipline, Ashish Limaye and Arjan Singh Nagra.

Fouaad, astride his 10-year-old bay gelding Camouflage 38, registered a score of 38.70 and a percentile rating of 61.33, slotting in 26th. Nagra, atop his 12-year-old grey stallion Cooley Goodwood, bettered Fouaad with a 38.20 score and percentile of 61.80, finishing 23rd.

Ashish Limaye registered India’s best score with his 14-year-old bay gelding Willy be Dun, the same horse he rode in the Hangzhou Asian Games. He registered a score of 35.50 with a percentile of 64.47 to end the dressage stage at 14th place. In a 32-rider field, only three riders managed percentile scores of 70 and above with China’s Tian Hua and his Irish Sport Horse gelding Manjushri topping the individual eventing standings. Thailand’s Korntawat Samran and Japan’s Toshiyuki completed the top three.

Eventing will take cumulative scores and final positions after three elements - dressage, cross-country and show jumping. The team event takes individual scores managed by riders together to compute a nation’s score. India, with a score of 112.40, is currently placed seventh in an eight-country field, well outside medal contention as it stands. Japan tops the scoring with 91.60. In dressage, judges score horse and rider for smoothness of routine, rider-horse harmony, rhythm and overall neatness of action. The lower the score, the fewer the errors and therefore, the higher the ranking.
