Bombshell rumor links Cowboys to shocking trade that would shake NFL to its core

The only reason the Dallas Cowboys have any hope this season is because Dak Prescott is playing out of his mind, and the offense is virtually unstoppable. With Prescott on his third contract and approaching his mid-30s, the Cowboys are only going to get so many more bites at the proverbial apple.

It would be franchise malpractice to waste an offense with this much firepower. In other words, Jerry Jones and the front office need to push the envelope before the Nov. 4 trade deadline to acquire some defensive reinforcements.

Well, if the latest rumor is true, Jones is prepared to do exactly that. According to former ESPN host and longtime NFL voice Trey Wingo, the Cowboys have inquired with the Las Vegas Raiders about a potential trade for star defensive end Maxx Crosby.

Cowboys linked to bombshell trade for Raiders star DE Maxx Crosby

How's that for throwing a wrench into your Tuesday, Cowboys fans?

It's no secret that the Cowboys need more pass-rush help. Matt Eberflus finally called more five-man rushes in Sunday's win over the Commanders, but as currently constructed, this EDGE room cannot generate pressure with a standard four-man rush.

Teams are wisely doubling defensive tackles Osa Odighizuwa and Kenny Clark and forcing the likes of Sam Williams, Dante Fowler, Jadeveon Clowney, Marshawn Kneeland, and James Houston to beat them.

Crosby would fix all of that. A clear-cut top-five pass rusher in football, Crosby has compiled 63.5 sacks, 115 tackles for loss, and 153 quarterback hits in his career. He missed time due to injury over the last two seasons, but he finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting in his last full season in 2023, when he tallied 14.5 sacks, a league-high 23 TFLs, and 31 QB hits.

Jones has been steadfast about being able to trade for a big-name player with the picks acquired from trading Micah Parsons to the Packers. The Cowboys' owner should not blink if the Raiders ask for one of those in return for Crosby, as acquiring the four-time Pro Bowler would propel Dallas right into the Super Bowl conversation despite its 3-3-1 record.
