The striker was given 72 minutes of action, while the Liverpool midfielder was taken off by Lionel Scaloni eight minutes later.The Argentina star had a good game in the middle of the park and it was clear throughout that he was up for the fight and literally got into one during the match.Just before the halftime break, a scuffle broke out between Uruguay and Argentina players with Mac Allister at the heart of it.Nunez, who is known as one not to back down from a fight, was holding his Liverpool teammate back as it seemed he didn’t want to see the midfielder pick up a yellow card or worse.MORE LIVERPOOL STORIESLiverpool fans will love to see this as club teammates often forget who they’re competing against when it comes to international level – Wayne Rooney’s incident with Cristiano Ronaldo at Euro 2004 being a famous case.However, the two are unlikely to be teammates for much longer, as Nunez is expected to leave Liverpool at the end of the season as his poor form continued whilst on international duty.Darwin Nunez’s poor form continues in a Uruguay shirtThis season has been a tough one for Nunez at Anfield as the Uruguayan star has not been a key part of Arne Slot’s plans on Merseyside.There was hope that Nunez could gain some confidence with Uruguay but that did not play out on Friday night against Argentina as the Reds forward put in a poor display, hence why he was taken off.The Uruguayan finished the match with no goals or assists, no shots on goal, no dribbles attempted and only touched the ball 23 times throughout the contestLiverpool rejected a £62.5m for Nunez in January as Al-Nassr pursued the striker but if a club makes an acceptable offer for the 25-year-old this summer, the Reds are unlikely to turn it down.
